Lessons from Disney #7: The family is the Target

Walt Disney had a vision to create a fun space for both parents and kids to enjoy each other. This is how the Disney empire started. While Walt Disney sat on a bench watching his girls have fun on merry-go-rounds and such, a vision came to him to have a place for the whole family can have fun.

Some people don’t like to hear this story, but it is true. How does this relate to church ministry you may ask? Well we live in a world where there are more and more “nitch” churches are being planted. It is those churches that only target 20’s and 30’s. When we read scripture, there is nothing of the sort found in either Testaments. The target to reach people needs to be families. Not just mom, dad, and the kids. It should be mom, dad, grandma, grandpa, step-parents, kids, and teens. I will contend that a church should be and must be multi-generational in order to be healthy and biblical.

So as Walt Disney had families in mind while he journeyed to create the Disney Empire, we too should have the while family in mind while reaching people for Jesus, raising disciples, and releasing an army for impact…
